It has been a long time since the success of the Storks in promotion from the fourth division made national headlines. After their first ever promotion, the north Germans are on course to advance to third place and create a fairytale promotion to the Bundesliga. The winger continued his progress by travelling to Germany this week to train with the second-string. He will play for the Storks U23 side against rivals Hamburg at the end of the month and is preparing for his first game in the top flight.

Holstein Kiel had the ball in the net twice but the visitors equalised and scored to secure a 1-0 win that keeps them in the Bundesliga. Yunus Mallis' missed goal resulted from an error in his own half, but the hosts gave Wolfsburg the lead in a rather one-sided game. They finished runners-up - 1910 and 1930 - and narrowly missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga in 1965. Wolfsburg struggled in the last two seasons, but won the German Cup in 2015 - finishing 16th and finishing runners-up in 2016-17, securing a place in the Champions League.

The following year they reached the semi-finals, where they lost 0-2 to TSV 1860 Munich, but their enthusiasm for football has not subsided.
